Laura Simeoni, CPA, CA, CIA, CRMA
Laura Simeoni, as a member of the Neverest team, delivers customized training for individuals within corporations, the public sector, professional institutes and public accounting firms, covering a variety of disciplines, including accounting & finance, risk management, internal audit and external audit.
Laura began training and consulting over 20 years ago and has maintained her passion and interest in continuous learning. She enjoys writing as well as delivering professional development and training programs to accountants both in practice and in industry. She is also involved in the training of CPA students and in helping them to prepare for the Uniform Evaluation (the “UFE”). She has taught at the Ontario School of Accountancy for over 25 years.
Laura is responsible for updating the professional development course entitled “Professional Risk Management – A Practical Perspective”, for CPA Ontario. This is one of the courses she delivers for CPA Ontario. Laura has also delivered this course to CPA Nova Scotia and CPA Saskatchewan.
From 2005 – 2007 Laura worked on a full-time basis for RBC – Internal Audit where she assumed the role of Director- Professional Audit Standards. During this time Laura earned her Certified Internal Audit designation and was instrumental in helping RBC become an approved CPA training office.
Laura was extensively involved, by using the skills and experiences gained over the years in education, in helping CPA Ontario (formerly CMA Ontario) obtain PAC approval to license public accountants. Laura is also a member of the CPA Canada (formerly CMA Canada) Competency Development Committee.
In 2008 Laura began lecturing on a part-time basis at the Schulich School of Business at York University and is currently teaching Intermediate Accounting. In addition, Laura has contributed to a casebook used for teaching case writing. Laura’s other writing credits include co-authoring the publication, “Guide to Preparing Financial Statements”, published by Carswell.
Most recently, Laura earned her Certificate in Risk Management Assurance.
Laura volunteers as the treasurer for the Chris Wade Memorial Golf Tournament, a tournament that supports cancer care. The tournament has raised over $150,000 since its inception in 2011.
