Tools & Techniques for New Supervisors

3 DAYS / 21 PD HOURS – Minimum 2-3 busy seasons

This course is designed for individuals with a minimum of 2-3 busy seasons of experience planning and performing assurance engagements, who are new to supervising staff. This course is also beneficial for individuals in a supervisory role interested in refreshing their knowledge of tools and techniques for taking a lead role in performing risk assessments, designing risk based procedures, and managing assurance engagements and teams.

This course develops the technical and supervisory skills of individuals. It helps the experienced professional focus on improving their abilities to manage assurance engagements and engagement teams. The course highlights key aspects of performing risk assessments: gaining the appropriate depth of understanding of entity level and activity level risks and controls, including a sufficient understanding of information technology risks and controls. The course introduces techniques individuals can use to improve the efficiency of assurance procedures without compromising effectiveness. Participants learn how to perform working paper file reviews, and provide meaningful performance feedback to staff. In addition, the course explores teamwork and supervision, and provides tangible techniques for success.
